Ms. Syra Sharif has dedicated more than a decade to the field of education, with the last seven years spent teaching in public schools. She earned her Bachelor's degree in English from Indiana University and later completed her Master of Arts in Teaching at Marian University, equipping her with both a strong academic foundation and practical classroom experience. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about helping students develop the skills and confidence they need to become successful learners.
Ms. Sharif primarily teaches students in grades 5–9, where she specializes in English Language Arts, reading comprehension, writing, spelling, and vocabulary development. She also enjoys working with younger learners in grades 3–5, providing individualized instruction that strengthens foundational literacy skills. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes meeting students where they are academically and helping them grow through engaging, personalized lessons tailored to their unique learning styles.
A strong advocate for evidence-based instruction, Ms. Sharif incorporates the Science of Reading into her teaching practices and is experienced in phonics instruction and literacy intervention. She believes that every student has the ability to succeed when given the right support, encouragement, and learning strategies. Her goal is to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking on challenges, and celebrating their progress.
In addition to English Language Arts, Ms. Sharif is also qualified to teach humanities and other related subjects as needed. Whether she is helping a struggling reader gain confidence, guiding a student through the writing process, or preparing learners for classroom success, she is committed to making a meaningful impact on every student she works with.
Through her passion for education, dedication to student success, and years of classroom experience, Ms. Sharif strives to inspire a lifelong love of learning. She looks forward to partnering with families and helping students achieve their academic goals while building the confidence they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
